Makenna Marisa Proves "We Are" About Academics Earning Spot On Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll

Lady Lions' senior Makenna Marisa has been selected to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Marisa earns a spot on the conference weekly honor roll for the second time in her career.

The guard out of McMurray, Pennsylvania, performed outstandingly in both Penn State's wins last week. In the Lady Lions' 91-85 victory over Kansas, Marisa led the team with 34 points, matching her career high.

Her massive scoring mark signified the 30th double-figure scoring outing and the eighth 30-plus-point performance of her career.

The senior+ sits at ninth all-time in scoring at Penn State with 1,864 total points, and her eighth 30-plus-point game ties her for second in most performances of that nature.

Marisa shot 11-for-18 (61%) from the field, going 4-for-6 from deep while contributing seven assists against the Jayhawks. The senior+ had another double-figure scoring outing in the Lady Lion's win over St. John's just three days later, with a team-high 15 points and five assists. Through two games, the Pennsylvania native totaled 49 points, 12 assists, seven rebounds, two steals and one block.

Marisa has scored in double figures in all four of Penn State's games so far this season, leading the squad in points in two of the four and assists in two games as well.
