“Just Let The Kid Be A Kid” LeBron James Wants You To Stop Planning Bronny’s Future

LeBron "Bronny" James Jr. has been in the spotlight for his entire life as the son of the world's most famous current basketball player. However, what comes with the spotlight is another "s," scrutiny, and his famous father is tired of all the chatter about his son's potential athletic future.

James expressed his opinion when a new mock draft dropped, taking Bronny out of the running as a potential first-round draft pick. On Monday, ESPN released its 2024 mock draft, and as part of that simulation, he had James going 39th overall as a second-round selection. It would have sent him to the Portland Trailblazers in a pick that originally belonged to the Atlanta Hawks. This prompted "The King" to appeal to the world to leave his son alone.

"Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball," James Sr. said first in a series of posts. "The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y'all don't know he doesn't care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!"

LeBron didn't stop there. In another post, James Sr. continued his advice and extended his scope to all young people in similar situations to his son's.

Bronny is a four-star prospect and the No. 25 player in the 2023 signing class per On3 Industry Rankings. The McDonald's All-American was a top recruit, and when he ultimately chose USC, it looked like he was setting himself up to be the crown prince of Los Angeles. With LeBron as the Lakers star who has already said he wants to play with his son, the circumstances are lining up nicely for the young Mr. James.

Then, last August, he had the world waiting with bated breath when he collapsed during a USC men's basketball practice. James suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) which was identified as a congenital heart defect that is being treated.

Although Bronny missed the first part of his freshman season at USC, he debuted for the Trojans on December 10th, appearing in 19 games for the Trojans.

Bronny averages 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 20.2 minutes per game, but he is only 19 years old, and even with all the hype, he is still a teenager, so treat him like one by order of LeBron James, Sr.
