Johnny Manziel Removes Himself From Heisman Ceremony Until “Reggie Bush Gets His Trophy Back”
Johnny Manziel is holding the NCAA accountable for taking away Reggie Bush's Heisman trophy by boycotting the ceremony that also awarded him.
Johnny Football made the announcement on 'X.'
"After careful thought and consideration I will be humbly removing myself from the Heisman trophy ceremony until Reggie Bush gets his trophy back. Doesn't sit right with my morals and values that he can't be on that stage with us every year. Reggie IS the Heisman trophy.
Do the RIGHT thing, NCAA, the ball is in your court.
Much love

Manziel spoke out before with his criticism of how Bush was treated after his Untold documentary on Netflix exposed Manziel's ride to his own Heisman trophy win in 2005. Manziel lived large and broke various NCAA rules yet was never punished like Reggie Bush was while he was at Texas A&M.
Conversely, Bush was found guilty by the NCAA of forfeiting his "amateur status" by accepting illegal gifts from agents. Ultimately, it all came down to Bush accepting a used car and his parents accepting a home from an ex-convict with dreams of becoming a sports agent.
Bush sued the NCAA to have his award restored.
"There is nothing I want to see more than for Reggie [Bush] to get his Heisman back. I think what the NCAA did in that situation is complete bulls**t," Manziel posted on'X.'
"He is one of the best college football players in history and deserves to be on that stage with us every year. The only difference between my story and Reggie's is that my 'illegal activities' did not start until after my Heisman season."
The saga continues in a new world where student-athletes are receiving valuations in the millions of dollars for NIL consideration.
