Is Jerry Jones The Dallas Cowboys Problem?

Dallas Cowboys nation, whose hopes were up high during their 2023-24 winning season of 12-6, were left stunned when they lost the Wild Card Round to the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium 48-32.

Jones is the owner and general manager of the team, but he is also one of its marquee products, so much so that he has an actual hologram inside his arena. Jerry Jones also popped in to meet with the team after the defeat and express his urgency about the team's desire to win.

"His message was we gotta win," cornerback Jourdan Lewis said. "It's the Dallas Cowboys. We had everything to win. We can't let this feeling keep going on, so it makes sense. I just feel like he wants to win right now. The urgency is now. It was always that on our shoulders. He made it clear that that was the point."

But is Jones the problem? Is his involvement with day-to-day more of a hindrance than a benefit to the team? Whatever the case, Jones's disappointment with his team's loss to Green Bay might signal a step down if he is this disappointed after all his years in football.

"Jerry Jones would have been able to stomach them making it to the NFC championship and losing to San Francisco," LaVar Arrington said on Two Pros And A Cup Of Joe. "I know it might not sound popular; people might be like, 'Nah, he wouldn't have,' Yeah, he would have because that's a fine football team and to lose to a team of that caliber, whether you like it or not if it's a competitive game you move on from it.

"But this man said, "This is the most disappointing, most surprising (loss) since he's been a part of sports. That's a really long time to have that be the most (disappointing). He used 'most' for how he explained this. I didn't even understand what he was saying; he couldn't even finish a thought. In Jerry Jones's mind, 'I can't even think of a year more disappointing than the loss I'm dealing with right now.' That's the owner of the team. That's pretty damning."

The Cowboys can't seem to get it done, and one thing is for sure: changes need to be made, and maybe Jones's GM spot should be placed in new hands.
