The world of contact sports and combat sports might converge in impact, interest, and intense training but one place where the world's are starting to diverge is the practice of film study.

Conversations With A Legend host, NFL and NCAA collegiate legend, LaVar Arrington recently found out that his pre-game study habits are not the norm for the world's top boxers.

Arrington spoke to undefeated welterweight champions Terence Crawford and Errol Spence, Jr. about their film study habits and was surprised.

No Film Study Zone

"No opponent is going to fight me the same way they fought their previous opponent or any other opponent they've faced," said Crawford to Arrington on Conversations With A Legend. "I don't get in too much of film watching because film watching can mislead you in a lot of ways. I'll leave that to my coaches."

The comment was in direct contrast with a football player's preparation for a game as LaVar broke down to both fighters.

"It's all about film study where I come from," Arrington said. "So my confidence going into a game was always based off of I'm watching my opponent so much that I know my opponent is going to do what I'm anticipating him to do."

Even Matched Strategy

For the man known as "The Truth," Errol Spence, Jr. spoke his to LaVar and surprisingly mimicked his opponent's.

"For me, I'm so much of a fan of the sport. These last like ten guys; I don't have to watch them because I watched them all the time," Spence said to Arrington.

"Like Terence Crawford, I've been watching Terence Crawford, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, all these guys; I've been watching them and I've been watching them so much that I don't have to go and watch their fights because I already know the things they do. I know how they fight."

With the battle to become the first undisputed welterweight world champion a little over a month away, the fighters are not watching each other to compose a game plan. They are focused on being the best version of themselves.
