Dante Cephas opens up about transferring to Penn State

The transfer portal is a crazy place to be. There are a lot of mixed messages, promises that cannot be delivered, and, of course, NIL. So, how did Dante Cephas know that Penn State would be a great fit for him? He explained to us in this exclusive interview.

Cephas said, "Transferring from Kent [State] to Penn State it was huge. The transfer portal was kind of crazy, with a lot of people pulling me left and right. But I felt Penn State was more comfortable, it felt more like home here. All of the players and all of the coaching staff had my best interest. "

Cephas found comfort in Penn State as he played high school football at Penn Hills in Pittsburgh, PA. After choosing to leave Kent State for a bigger opportunity he has had to work for each rep he has taken so far this season. but that hasn't discouraged the redshirt senior wide receiver.

Cephas wanted to play with former high school teammates

One of the most appealing parts of Penn State was having two members of his high school team on the roster. That helped guide his decision to play in State College.

Cephas continued, "My family were harping on it a lot and I got two high school teammates Terry Smith and Daequan Hardy that I played with back in high school."

He even goes on to say how much respect he has for Hardy. He mentions how underrated a player he is. Hardy returned two punts for touchdowns in the Nittany Lions' most recent victory over UMass. He has also been a star on defense for PSU this season as well. Cephas said, "Someone on the team that isn't getting talked about enough right now, Daequan Hardy. I think he has what it takes to play at the next level. It just brings back a lot of memories from the past and I hope we can do the same thing we did in high school, win a national championship."
