Down Goes Hardy! After Greg Hardy’s Last KO Loss Does He Need To Stop Fighting?

It might be time for Greg Hardy to give up the fight game after catching another crushing "L."

On Friday night, former NFL Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy was knocked out during a Team Combat League boxing event in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Hardy, who competed for the Dallas Destroyers, was knocked out by Alexander Flores of the L.A. Tengoose in the 17th round of an 18-round team event.

FIRST BOXING LOSS BUT NOT FOURTH KO LOSS AS A FIGHTER

The loss was Hardy's first in the TCL, the world's only boxing league with a franchise team format. The loss gave him a 2-1 professional boxing record since making his debut with the promotion last month. The man who put Hardy down, Alexander Flores, is an 18-3-1 pro boxer.

The 34-year-old Hardy made his pro boxing debut in October 2022, defeating Mike Cook by knockout. The next month, he followed that up with a unanimous-decision win over Hasim Rahman Jr., son of former world heavyweight boxing champion Hasim Rahman.

Since entering the TCL, he has gone 2-1 with the Dallas Destroyers with one unanimous decision, one TKO win, and now a KO loss.

Hardy recently was seen selling Spectrum service in Walmart in Texas after he claims he was tricked into thinking it was a high-level marketing job.

FROM THE GRIDIRON TO THE GLADIATOR RING

However, Hardy, who started pursuing mixed martial arts first, has been knocked out of the cage. After what looked like a promising start in MMA that led to a 10-fight UFC stint after performing well during Dana White's Contender Series, Hardy's last three professional MMA fights in 2020, 2021, and 2022 all resulted in him getting knocked out.

With three KO losses in MMA and now one in boxing, the former NFL player might want to reconsider a career path where he is not getting laid out as he did against NFL offenses.

Former football players like Frank Gore, Chad Ochocinco, and more are entering the ring, and with contact sports having similarities to combat sports and the opportunities for fighters at an all-time high, gridiron stars are going to shine or get KO's in the squared circle or the cage.
